EMST is suitable for you if you are a swimmer or competitive athlete who also wants to train your respiratory muscles. It is also suitable 

if you want to improve your sleep apnoea (OSAS) symptoms and reduce snoring.

EMST can help you if you suffer from chronic obstructive bronchitis (COPD) and want to improve your performance and endurance, or if you suffer from Parkinson's disease and want to become more mobile and treat swallowing disorders. Use EMST if you suffer from another neurological condition such as stroke, MS, ALS, Pompe disease, etc., and are looking for a therapy for the associated swallowing disorder.

Or if you are an older person who simply wants to stay fit!

Die Durchführung und Wirkweise des EMST 150 und EMST 75 lite ist identisch, jedoch hat das EMST 7 lite einen niedrigeren Trainingsbereich (0-75cm H2O). Dadurch ist es besonders für Menschen geeignet, die erkrankungsbedingt in ihrer Mobilität und Ausdauer stark eingeschränkt sind. Bei Unsicherheiten darüber, welches Gerät für Sie das Richtige ist, sprechen Sie bitte vorab mit Ihrer/Ihrem Logopäden/Logopädin oder Arzt/Ärztin! 

Please discuss with your doctor whether you are medically fit to perform EMST training (a so-called Valsalva manoeuvre). Further information on contraindications can be found here.

Due to their robust design, it is very rare for the devices to break. If the treatment is not working, it is usually due to incorrect technique or the resistance being set too high. Please always consult your speech therapist or doctor before starting training. If the EMST 150 is set to the lowest level and you still cannot breathe through the device, you may need a device with a lower base resistance (EMST 75 lite).

For hygienic reasons, this was not a good idea even before the coronavirus pandemic. You should treat your EMST like your own toothbrush – everyone has their own.

The EMST is an aid approved by the EU and is therefore eligible for reimbursement in Germany.

Those with private insurance simply submit the invoice to their health insurance company.

Those with statutory insurance submit an informal application for reimbursement before receiving a prescription from their doctor.
